Stalybridge

Monday, April 30th, 2007

Windy journey up to Stalybridge, moored by Tescos and stocked up with wine. Karen finishes her antibiotics (after toothache a week ago) just in time to start drinking again for her birthday.

The first lock on the Huddersfield, vandal proof hydraulic winding gear for gates and paddles, fenced around with razor wire – despite this we decided to continue and the locals have been very friendly (so far).

Roly has a bandage on his tail which has started to bleed again from one of his many lumps. Poor boy is still showing great enthusiasm and interest (in food) for a dog of nearly 17 years.

Bugsworth Basin

Saturday, April 28th, 2007

Well the blog is finally get started - bigs thanks to Veronica for setting it up.  I can see I have a steep learning curve.  Web access is still a problem (dodgy data card I suspect) but will keep at it. We have lots of news to tell everyone, so Karen will be producing a newsletter for April.

We are currently in Bugsworth Basin near Whaley Bridge.  We have booked passage through Standedge Tunnel on Friday 4th May which promise to be an experience.  So the next week we have to go up Marple locks and through Stalybridge.
